When Maime Caldwell loses her voice on her fourth birthday, silence becomes her shield—and her burden. Unable to speak, but gifted with sharp observation, she grows into the reluctant historian of Whitney, a town steeped in secrets, cruelty, and something far darker than superstition.  As Maime records her childhood in journals, she uncovers disturbing truths: sadistic relatives, townspeople who hide monstrous impulses, and ancient forces that watch, wait, and bargain.

Alongside her reckless best friend Lucas and the enigmatic Witchey clan, Maime is drawn into a legacy of Finders and Keepers—roles that come with a deadly price. Graveyards, hidden libraries, cursed bargains, and failed summonings blur the line between folklore and reality, forcing Maime to confront the cost of knowledge and the danger of hope.

Eerie, heartfelt, and unsettling, Maime’s Tales – Journal One is a haunting coming-of-age story about silence, survival, and the truths that refuse to stay buried.

Maime’s Tales – Journal One is the first installment in author, Aimee Cooper’s Maime’s Tales series.
